Lakes Run Out 10th September

Any Wedgers going on the lakes run 10th September ??

We're off over there camping this weekend, but I could thrash across in the Wedge on the 10th as well.... depending on work next week. Probably off to Gosport, big hassle, chew, grief. By Saturday I might be unemployed

I have to say it is the run of the century organised by the biggest hunk in the country who,with great charm & a sparkling personality, is most likely to get everyone lost & eating sheep stew on the fells whilst stranded overnight.

I'll be up there on the 10th doing a (I'll say it quietly) triathlon. No wedge I'm afraid, because although it's kitted up to take the bike the gf doesn't trust the weather enough to risk the soaking , especially as we're going to be up there for a week after. She seems to think it might be a tad expensive to drive up there in the wedge. Pah, we're only in Devon

I'll be having a little swim in Ullswater, followed by a gentle(who am I kidding)bike ride around the locality (hitting the Kirkstone Pass around 11am) then there's just a small jog to the top of Helvellyn and back to finish.

If you happen to be out that way
a) my apologies if we hold you up
b) if you happen to see someone on a bike shouting at you to "give it some", it'll be me

Hope you have a good day, if I see you I'll be jealous as hell!!!

If you happen to see a fat, balding so & so in a green 400SE who s " get out of the way you lycra lout, roads are for cars that pay road tax", just assume you have met the Cumbrian R.O. on the run.

Ah yes, rain. Didn't it just. Actually no; I've known it FAR worse than that... AND with a wind that blew most of the site sideways. But me Julie reckons it was like monsoon in the rain forest, so we'll let her carry on thinking that, she may be more inclined to go again
However 24 hours of more-or-less persistant drizzle does get a tad dampening on the spirits, so we availed ourselves of the hospitality of the Sticklebarn and the musical talents of Pete Lashley.
I think we've managed to dry most of our kit out... anyway, back to the plot.

I now have a firm offer on the Esprit and the buyer is proposing to collect it... next weekend Strangely, he's from Devon.

Do tell me more ... I'm in the Lakes that weekend doing a sponsored walk for "Children with Cancer" (24 peaks, and 13,000 feet, in 24 hours !) and so will be in the Ambleside on the evening of 9th and in Grasmere on 10th. Unfortunately I'll be up on the hills from 5am to 5pm each day...
Won't have my wedge with me but may be able to cadge a lift to somewhere close by ....

If you happen to see a fat, balding so & so in a green 400SE who s " get out of the way you lycra lout, roads are for cars that pay road tax", just assume you have met the Cumbrian R.O. on the run.

Well I reckon I saw you both... I was hundreds of miles from home taking part in a 24 peaks in 24 hour chrity challenge up there and was parked up rescuing "the walking wounded" on the A591 just north of Grasmere when the lycra dynamos came storming past...

Then was heading back down into Ambleside from Kirskstone pass at about 4;30pm when I had pull over as on coming was a Green wedge leading a pack of Tivs.... you can run but you can't hide...

Awesome roads - great place for a BBWF ! Mind you the awesome weather helped :-)

Yep, that was us less the ones that had peeled off or got lost by then.
I assume you were not the guy in the black Fherawi that bricked it when he saw us coming , got a right wobble on and undoubtably changed his upholsery for ever?

Nope I was driving a blue Vectra (diesel) so I doubt you'll remember it... (not mine !!) - I was the one jumping up and down tongue out of the window, going look !! look !!look !! TVRs, frantically winding down the window so I could hear you guys, much to the amusement of my walking mates who all drive estates and/or diesels - think they thought the sun had gone to my head>

I was indeed (I'm afraid) in the lycra dynamos. Had you been up by the Kirkstone though as we finished 'the struggle' up from Ambleside there would certainly have been no 'storming' on the cars.

Afraid I can't recall seeing a Vectra though . I did see a Chim on that section and wondered if it was the first of many, but it was all on it's lonesome.
