Had a stainless backend madeup today for the exhaust - the bit from the centre box back.
Had the old damaged back box removed and a new straight through pipe welded in its place (aparently the guy who originally specc'd the stainless system that was on the car had a straight through pipe system put on but the dude had it removed and a baffle put on under the valence - I think I know why.......
Even for me with my years of wedging - I think its loud!! talk about sports exhaust!!!
Driving back from the place I thought I was being followed by a Tornado GR1. The drive back from the bay in Cardiff also involved a long tunnel - holy shitola my ears are still ringing.
Only trouble is, is it too loud? If anybody knows my car then it is quite loud anyhow, but it is now a LOT louder than before.
Thoughts?

Mine is also very loud - there is just a centre box and I doubt there is anything actually in it. Even when idling you can stand 10ft away and it will blow your trousers around, although I do wear big flares !
We have an underground car park where I work and the noise I can create is phenomenal. As I have a company car and too many others I really only drive the wedge at weekends for fun so the noise is great but I would put at least a new centre box in if I was using it regularly as it's no fun being stared at in lanes of non moving traffic.
I keep reading that the RV8 likes back pressure - have no idea on the reasoning but would be interested to see if there was any performance difference fitting additional silencing. Mine is a low torque high power high revs type of engine so I imagine it may blunt the top end but give back some torque - have you noticed any difference ?

There was talk over a ruby and beer I think about a trip oop norf for a xmas bash.

I had the pipe follow the route of over the back suspension, just under the petrol tank! and then down, 90 along the back and then another 90 and then out the back.
I personally thought that the car although sounding hugely loud, almost sounds like its blowing quite a bit - but it aint!
I also thought on the first drive that there was a slight power drop? - could have been my imagination though.
Still worried that its too loud though. Also when accelerating hard around third gear (well second to third) you get this teriffic resonance coming into the tone - I am wondering if this will subside with time?
To be honest the exhaust note from the 450 was always aggressive and abrupt but now its like 5 time more abrupt and aggressive which I am not sure if I like or not. Gotta admit I prefer the 350i note ;-(

On back pressure for the RV8: it doesn't need it in standard trim. It even releases a few horses with less (that is why a sport exhaust releases a few more bhp on a standard Vitesse), and that is why the 350i has more bhp then the standard Vitesse.... But with special cams and engines it could be come an issue.... Basically all the tuners work with the trail and error principle as it cannot be calculated. That is my opinion only (as always of course).
Good to hear that you can enjoy the bad wedge again. And on longer trips, especially with motorways, I use earplugs (I know I am a softy) mainly due to the wind noise with the roof down.
