Thought I might have bought a Scooby at auction today - less than 1 year old, only 3,000 miles so almost new. Bid had to be referred, and then later found they wanted anuvver fousand pahnds out of me - I couldn't adam and eve it!
Mate of mine called later and it seemed what they wanted was not far off the retail forecourt price these things are being advertised at.
The worst thing is (if you bought a new Scooby WRX last year), forecourt dealer price now for many cars is about £15k (though have seen one or two at £17k to £18k) compared to the new list price of about £22k last year. Stone the crows. Why not just go and sit in one and tear up tenners!
Stick with Wedges I think. Should have mine back on the road soon.

Buy a brand new car today and you'll be very lucky to get back more than 50% of what you paid out in 3 years time!
Ok, suppose you buy a Nissan shopping trolly, you might loose a few grand over the first few years.
But what if you bought a brand new BMW 7 series? You could loose around £30 in the first year!!! (Yes no type error - £30k in the first year)

I suppose it makes it all OK for us paupers to buy these cars after the main initial slug of depreciation has hit.
Newest car I ever had was a 1976 Lancia Fulvia Coupe at 18 months or so old.
I've never been tempted to buy new - until recently. And that was thinking about a Toyota Aygo as a cheap runabout - 61 mpg don't you know! Just think of all the tax I'd be saving!
