OZ 400SE wheel centre keys...

Hi All

Had a nightmare today went to get new tyres fitted at the local emporium and the wheel centre cap key snapped i.e. the little metal offset stud on the red handled key. So the dilemma is how to get the other screws out and what is a suitable replacement. Are all the keys the same and if so does anyone have one spare one (I am guessing they are rarer than Sperm whale poo)

Didn't have any keys for mine, used a small screwdriver and a large flathead to push against it in the hole.

You could try TVR Car Parts or any TVR dealer (Gatwick TVR have a large parts dept)..

I use a bolt which i have ground the end with a grinder to produce a spigot

Just to be awkward there are differant sizes si if you are buying one you will need to check it is the right one. You can buy them from OZ.
O made a spare for mine by grinding the end of an allen key to produce the 'pin' in the right place & size.
Total cost= 10 minutes & an old allen key.

I have used a pin punch located in the hole, and then a suitable sized flat blade screwdriver to bear against the outside lip of the retainer bolt and the punch. Worked for me!

I had exactly the same problem when I discovered that I didn't have any such tool with my wedge... and the simplest way I found was so simple it made me weep having tried all the above tips about grinding, welding, gluing etc..

All I did was find an allen key that would fit in the hole in the retaining screw, insert it, then use a screwdriver that fits into the recess of where the screw fits in the wheel centre and then just turn screwdriver whilst holding allen key in the dimple and bingo it should turn the the screw (i then replaced the screw with allen bolts)
Same principle as Pwd95's and ed crouch's pin punch idea...
