Ramon is one of the guys (Rene is another, and incredible source of information and parts in Holland)on the sd1 and rv8 yahoo groups that have a thing going on like us on ph. Think that lately I saw a link to the wedgepages of Mike in one of their yahoo threads. So it seems that we 'know' how to find eachother.

Dicky, didn't someone copy something, remove the bylines and post it on the net under an alias?

"Proud" and "Happy" that a person's considerable effort is copied, republished word for word and re-posted under your byline! Hmmmmm???

Some might think that "Free on the Internet" was not the issue!

John

At least you could put you name here .. are you the guy that wrote this - if so why not say so..

It's a fine job and there is not enough articles like this on the RV8 - especially the hotwire systems !

The converse also applies: I've had a few emails from people thanking me for some of the articles I wrote for Wedgepages. One enterprising guy even went as far as to put together a kit of parts for repairing the chassis rails, from the dimensions in my article, and flogged them on Ebay.
When I first got into TVRs I was miffed by the amount of 'closed-shop' attitude I found towards the dissemination of information (such as which donor cars were used) and the Wedgepages articles were my contribution to saving others from encountering the same problems. As far as I'm concerned if you publish it on the internet, expect it to be exploited by others. If you want to make money, keep schtum. That's why the real experts like Mark Adams rarely state anything other than that which is widely known...
Although the 4CU ECU circuit is available on my website, I can hardly put my name to something that was designed when I was still in short trousers.

Agreed, but it was NOT published on the internet prior to exploitation so the expectation was lower.

I tell you what fella - you tell me what bits are not directly "lifted" from other sources (including the "material originally made available for Range Rover Dealer technician training." ) and i will delete it if I get my 12 quid back! Failing that sue me or shut up.

PS. if i were the rogue you think i am, don't you think that everytime i see it on ebay i would post a question "why buy it when you can get it free at xxxxxxx"?

Hi Dicky. I accept your kind offer. The note on page one does indeed declare it was sourced from Range Rover. It was condensed from 60 pages down to 35, rephrased and clarified for the amateur mechanic. Additional material was inserted for Fuel Pump drawing, AFM and Overrun Valve settings, corrections made to the AFM resistance table and voltmeter connections for some electrical tests. That is its provenance.

Can your £13 refund can be sent to the same address, NP15 1AL?

Hi "Honestjohn" I have now upped the anti! can we have the other 25 pages as we are not amateurs?

PS. Is it correct that the throttle plate should be set with 0.000" gap? because Wedge engines prefer a 0.005" gap prior to setting the potentiometer.

As regards attempting to disclose my address on a public forum you would have been correct 12 months ago. However my solicitor now resides there (James Davies) and will be only to happy to forward any correspondance!

I guess that's "No" then? Ah well! Just a thought! Do you need a copy of the original RR technician training manual?
"Is it correct that the throttle plate should be set with 0.000" gap? because Wedge engines prefer a 0.005" gap"
The manual reads 'Contrary to the adjustments specified on some other Rover vehicles, the adjustment of the butterfly disc on the Rover SD1 requires zero clearance between the disc and its housing etc ---' It's a difficult setting and a matter of best judgement. On SD1's it depended upon whether or not the mechanism was supplied with a throttle stop adjustment screw. The majority of later singles were not. Earlier examples were similar to RR which apparantly did. All twins were not. So the choice of description for SD1's came down on the side of zero clearance, but the possibility of needing a gap does exist. Don't know about Wedges. The manual was prepared for the SD1 so what was posted on wedge pages has a propensity for error in relation to TVR which might have been checked out beforehand.
"As regards attempting to disclose my address"
Sorry about that, bad judgement on my part, but poo happens sometimes, as you know.

I've always understood it to be 2 thou." and always set up that way. Might be wrong, but given the number of other variables that can also be wrong, I don't think it matters that much.

You are not wrong. Click www.gomog.com/allmorgan/settingthebutterfly.jpg

First posting here. Been browsing the messages and I must say I am very impressed! There is lots of great hands-on experience here.

I was drawn in along by the Wedge Epistles. A couple of friends sent me it a few months ago..but I only got around to reading it after the driving season ended here a few weeks ago. It is a super fine work and a credit to all of you, much reason for pride. Perhaps I can fill in some blanks (humbly) in few spots over time.

At a risk of having rocks thrown, ;-) I am the webmaster of a large Morgan site, which also has a long-running very talkative discussion group (like this one) of 1500 souls and 2500 morgans. 50% of them are Plus 8s and share many of your issues of course.

Personally, I keep two Plus 8s, one in Canada and another in the UK. One is a 4.8 and the other a 3.5 both running on modified flappers. I also have another two variations of these V8s as often used spares with other fueling systems. (Weber and Hotwire) With all that you can imagine how much touble I get into. (wryly)
