Dan Rogers bought the car from Blackpool premises . . . just lying there for someone to fetch 'n restore. He did an imaculate job as seen in Jan's C&SC mag . . . In short the car was never collected by the owner back in '86. BS told the interesting history about this one being one of the press/development/staff cars that racked up over 130,000 miles during its time at TVR. More of that soon . . .

Aye.... I drove 434, not 436... it had just been bought by a guy in Middlesbrough and we fitted the security system. I had to drive it back as my 'boss' was banned for drink-driving...

Thank you Albert! Crikey, I go away for a month or so and return to find my name mentioned! lol! I don't think I could ever take the title of "King of Wedges" - there are loads of people out there who are much more deserving of that name! Lots of people on this forum obviously have a passion for these cars and have made their living out of them. Perhaps a whole "Royal family" could be constructed instead of just a King? Within these walls I think there is enough experience and dedication between owners to answer just about any question anyone could possibly have. I mean, has there ever been a Wedge related question go unanswered on these forums? I read stories on the other TVR forums about how the owners take their cars back to the dealers to have even minor things fixed, making huge lists of problems which the Wedge community seem to just take in their stride and construct ways of fixing the problems themselves, and then share their ideas! I know that if you're paying 50k for a Tuscan/Sagaris you expect to have a car that fits this price tag, but in the process half of the charm of owning a TVR vanishes.
I could write pages about what I found when I rebuilt my car last year, like bits of ply wood holding the body shell together, vinyl trim held on by gaffer tape instead of glue, and Cortina 1.6 brakes that so obviously weren't really going to actually stop the car in a hurry. We all have this sort of thing on our cars, and we all come on here and laugh about it in a "guess what I found on my car today" kind of way (thats no disrespect to the factory workers btw in these sensative times - it was just the way the car was designed). If we were driving Tuscans/Tamora/T350/Sags etc instead, then we'd all be complaining about how our cars have had to go back to the dealer yet again because some minor piece of trim has become unstuck or a little piece of rubber has worn slightly, and how we're having to struggle by with a mere Porsche as a loan car whilst the little bit of trim is stuck on again by an expert with a tube of glue. Thats one of the main reasons I like my Wedge and have kept it for 10 years now - its fun without pretending to be something that its not. Perhaps thats why the Wedge forum is always so busy and upbeat - hardly anyone comes on here to complain about minor things that aren't worth getting upset over. People just seem to look at the "problem" in hand, laugh about it and fix it themself, perhaps improving it in the process.
Anyway, seemed to have digressed a bit from the original question of who is the King of Wedges. Shall we just nominate everyone who has ever come onto this forum to offer advice and help to fellow Wedgers in their moment of need.
