Thermostat

Is the thermostat common across all size RV8's? Need a new 88 degree one for my 4.6 and my local motor factors can only find one listed for a Land Rover V8. If anyone has the part numbetr that would be fantastic

Give TVR car parts a call - they are very reasonably priced.

There are two temps available (82 or 88) I think.. the TVR specified items and a bigger by pass hole .. I believe.

I think Rimmers (Lincoln) keep them (for the SD1)... I got 82 and 88 degree ones, fitted the 88 as a start and never used the 82 as it's rock-solid.

Remember: jiggle pin to the top

The 88 one I bought from the factory (before they sold the stock) is a standard RRover part.

You can also get a 74deg. version which TVR specified, (I use that in the Summer and an 82 deg. in Winter) and as has been said, I believe that they are different to an ordinary Rover / RR part.

Does you car suffer from over heating ?

Just a precaution with the extra power , and as that was what was used on some Griffs., I thought I'd stick with it on the basis it's easier to raise the coolant temp than lower it if you need to.

I just did the thermostat on mine replaced the 88 with a 74 just to be on the safe side. there quite generic I just asked the local motor factor and soon came up with one. had to trim the excess holes of the gasket but was only 9 pounds so can't complain. And fitted it without moving the distributor or any of its cables always a bonus.

Is it important to have a jiggle pin, or can you just have a hole, as most new ones dont seem to have either.
