hi all, having just read my wedge bible ( good book!) and a quick browse on e bay. is a simple and cheapish way of more power out of my 350i to fit jag xjs fuel injectors and a bigger air flow meter then a set up/tune up?

Gary,

woo up there.. well kind of.

If that if the route you want to take then first get hold of Mark Adams and see if he still has the tweekable maps available for the
flapper ECU.

Personally - I would whip the plemun off and have 45mm alloy trumpets installed - call someone like V8 Developments.

This will allow extra airflow - but should still not need tuning changes because the airflow meter 'show' still be able to handle those parameters..

I would also fit the magna Parva plenum insulator plate - as this will cut the intake temps - and keep the powrr you have rather that loose it when ever you slow down ..

thanks for the reply, when you say tweekable maps for the ecu do you mean different settings or a adjustable ecu? is that better than fitting a bigger air flow meter? or will it be better to fit jag injectors with 45mm trumpets?

I'm not sure that just fitting bigger trumpets on their own will yield reasonable gains - it wll probably move the peak power at bit further up the rev range, but ideally you'd need to lose the restriction of the AFM, then port the inlet (and exhaust) manifolds, and go for BV heads. Then uprate the cam, and have the whole lot set up on a rolling road. I would talk to a few experts to get a consensus with whatever budget you have in mind: V8 Devs, ACT, Mark Adams JE etc.

If you do go down the route of 45mm trumpets, I found JE very competitive price-wise.
