Wedge - Original or Modified ?

Origional as much as possible.
Within reason of course.
Personally, I wouldnt buy a 400se with a 4.6 engine in it..... or a 350 with a 4, 4.6 engine in it.. IMHO, origional means Keeping with the Looks, capacity, style of the car.
Small bits ... ok, they are more a personal choice. I like a wooden dash, but not everyone.. some want Carbon, some want steel. I wouldnt want a 350i with a 400 bonnet or a SEAC Spoiler fitted.
Its the same with colours. Yes, newer TVR's have all sorts of colours available, the older cars have the colour choice of the day ... Take your SEAC Rev. It looks good in Green ... Personally I prefer it. if given the choice of a Tango orange or a green one .. then I would choose the origional one.

As Jason says, it's personal. For me the best mods look like they were OE on the car. Things that improve the running/performance, but preserve the original style of the car and are immediately obvious, are a good thing for me. Uprated dampers, engine tuning and cooling system upgrades that reduce paranoia; all of these show someone who likes to use a car regularly and cares about it running properly. Some mods, such as a roll-cage in a wedge, give a nice edge to the look of a car, making it look 'ard and yet serving a practical purpose. Garish body-work add-ons are a bad idea - I've seen a quite few, though not on Wedges though I have to say. Subtle body work mods can work - I've seen very few of these. Wheels are one area where it is difficult to improve on the original. Very often the shapes and finish of the replace do not complement the car in the way of the original, but rather stand out as very obviously altered from the original.

I think mechanical mods are a good thing within reason, keep an RV8 in there instead of some other V8 etc. I like originality but if the opportunity is there to get more power, fit better brakes etc then why not. What I don't like, as an example, is that blinged up 450SE. I think that money would have been better spent doing it up properly.

This is a very emotive subject having come from pre war and classic cars where originality for the purists is a must. To be frank, its a theoretical issue only as no cars can be totally original as perishable components will not survive and have to be replaced. Also cars at the point of sale reflect the technology or styles of the day and it may be appropriate to updat e as required at a later stage.
I personally don't see anything wrong with modifications if they are tasteful or in keeping with the spirit of the car particularly in the pursuit of performance/handling/braking etc but as someone rightly said earlier this again is a matter of opnion.
The 4.6 conversion is very discreet on the 400se and I personally do not see it detracting from the car in any way.

I have a complete set of 5 spoke OZ split rims in good condition with no scuffs etc.

If you just after a set of original lattice type wheels Wyn, theres loads knocking round.
Personally, I think the ones you have are very nice, albeit not as nice as the OZ's
Cant see anything wrong with improving on the original. Had plans to quickly move on my 400SE, but its slowly getting its claws in to me. Spent ages going through the receipts that came with the car....few catalogues from a place called "Wedge Automotive" in Sheffield....they still going ?.
