Just took off my flywheel - I think the standard Rover V8 flywheel
is something like 33 lbs.

Anyone wanna guess the weight of this little baby

judging by the amount your engine weighed this morning lifting it, I would say.............a lot!!!

Dont forget to weigh your bell end too. These can be various weights, but its always best to ensure you know the weight of them... for reference.

So if the flywheel weighed 23 lb it would be '23 librae' which is a yellow dwarf star in the constellation Libra and has a mass of 1.05 suns - if that helps

It was approx 18 lb.

I think it was a standard SEAC part - as the 4.6 build sheet invoice did not mention lightening the flywheel.

Re: Campbells guess of 11 lb - I don't think a std steel flywheel could go that low without breaking and the would be scary.

There is a 11 lb alloy flywheel that is sold for racing.

These are the 11 lb ally ones: . 18 lbs does seem very light for a steel one. Check out the puma racing info on lightened flywheels, link on this thread. Exploding flywheels don't seem like a positive life experience!

Yes - I've read the Puma site : very interesting.

The 18 pounder has worked fine for several years - so I think I'll stick with it.
