hi. as i recently reported, my clutch cable snapped directly on the fixing point near the pedal.

i replaced the inner cable and recognized during a test drive that the operating force is nearly double to my other tasmin.

and i think that this is the reason why the cable snapped.

does anybody know if there are existing differnt clutch-pressure-plates on the market (maybe original ford and aftermarket parts) which need such a differnt operating forces?

or could something else be wrong at my clutch?

If its a 280 or a 200 Tasmin, do yourself a favour and buy a concentric hydraulic clutch salve cylinder setup. They are a bit dear: about 200 quid all in from Burton Power, and the Type 9 adaptor plate would hopefully fit a Tasmin gearbox (do not trust me on that: ask them before buying!!!)

You would also need the correct bore master cylinder, but then you can forget the cables. The only car I had a cable clutch on was my first car (a total shed of a Nova. Yes, I know.... But I didnt chav it up, alright!!), ahem, and it snapped at a set of traffic lights.

Pain in the bum, and you'll get more precise pedal action with the hydraulic one too.

Ed.

have heard of the hydraulic conversion....but can anybody sent or post a picture of this upgrade?

i still want to keep my mechanical clutch mechanism, as i have owned several tasmins and none of them had been converted to hydraulics...and even the pre-owner of my problem-baby cannot report any negative things about it (and he owned the car 8 years).
