heavy steering

Over the last couple of days my steering seems to have got a lot heavier, it seems to take quite a bit of effort to get it to start to turn, then it is okay. I have power steering and it reminds me a little of the feeling of not having power steering.

Haven't checked anything yet. Will start with the power steering fluid and the tyre pressures.

Any thoughts if it isn't either of those?

If it happens at certain steering positions a steering column UJ would be my first suspect.

Corroded ball joints would make it all stiff.

Try and giving all the moving parts a good dose of grease.

Can you hear you power steering pump making excessive noise as if it is struggling?

Lost my power steering last year, but only when I turned the wheel one way. Turn it the other way and it worked??? New steering rack was what it needed.
