took car out well tried to wont go in gear pedal goes straight to the floor no pressure but give it about 10 pumps comes back to pressure and goes in gear then go to change and the pedal has lost all the pressure again car has been standing for about 6 weeks there is only a few small drops of fluid under it and was working fine before?
any ideas?
ccocked up plans of a nice run out now stuck on drive
many thanks.

Bleeding could help (easy to try as a first), but by the sound of it you need to replace the rubber seals in the hydraulic system. If you do a search, lots of information comes up.
And you are lucky (not that you feel like it right now), as I had a clutch problem as well, overhauled everything and to find out it still didn't work: had to replace the clutch operating lever in the bellhousing (which normally is a box out operation!).

PS: part numbers can be found on the rimmer bros website (drawing with numbers)

Air in the hydraulic system then??
If you've got fluid coming out under the car, suggests youve got a small leak. Possibly:
Unions loose. EASY.
Slave cylinder seals gone. Fairly easy.
Im building a Vixen at the moment, and we've put in a concentric clutch slave cylinder that bolts over the input shaft shroud. If those seals go, its a gearbox off job!
The bugger with the Wedges is that to get the box off, you really have to take the engine out. There is a bodgers way of getting the box off without this, but it involves chopping a tube out of the chassis, and welding it back in afterwards. Noooooooo, dont do it!!!!

I had something similar happen to me.
Had total clutch failure while out and about.
time to go home, jumped in, pedal straight to the floor.
No clutch fluid - luckily I was spectating at a hillclimb and scrounged some clutch fluid. Drove home using clutch as little as possible - it's quite easy to change gears without the clutch when you HAVE to....
Clutch fluid stayed full for months after that.
I carried clutch fluid in the boot and carried on having fun - I simply ignored the problem but checked the level every morning.
Only needed topping up rarely.
It gradually got worse eventually got picked up in a service and the slave cylinder seals were changed. No problem since then.
All the best - Nacnud

I don't know about a 390 but on a 350 you have to remove the engine in order to get the gearboxbox out. I know - I tried. Only a few inches short of room but short none-the-less.
You can cut and shut the chassis but I wouldn't recommend it.

Perhaps Mike knows something the rest of us don't or he has had too much beer..
All summer mine used a little fluid, but was never sure how much although it definatly used more when using the car in traffic. Probably about half and inch in the resivoir every 1000 miles. Not ideal so changing some of the seals this winter...ANOTHER JOB!!! Must say, i dont ever sit with the clutch down whenever possible...
