BadRedWedge made me see sense. He made the mistake last year and regretted it. I think I would have regretted it too.

As my very apologetic email said, I had been promised a Griff that the seller didn't want to part with when push came to shove.
If I have to pay top price for a sorted Griff, I will wait until summer to re-advertise the wedge for top price.
On a seperate note and not wanting to start a battle of publically point scoring against each other, If the import company you are using had met up with me over the past couple of weeks and given me a deposit, I would not have been able to back out of the sale.
Good luck with finding a wedge. If I see anything other than on Pistonheads, I'll drop you an email.

I dont know the system in America but in england some people make alot of money playing the markets.
But as you found out if you dont know what you are doing you can also lose alot of money.
Keep looking am sure a car will come up and when it does it will be all the more worth it.

Mike, sorry to hear this has caused you a problem. Hunting for the right car will always cost money, even if you had to drive around this little island looking at cars it would cost a few hundred dollars. 18 months ago we spent close to £800 to go and view / collect a 400SE which feel through.
We bought a 450 a few weeks ago that cost about £150 in fuel train fares etc to view and collect.
Its not over till the fat lady sings.
A considerable number of Wedge owners use this forum and between us we should know where most 400s are, who owns them, what condition they are in and if they are for sale. I am sure you would not wish to alienate yourself from such a source of information and your comments above came out of disappointment and frustration in the heat of the moment.
Good luck in your search for a car, maybe a wanted ad in the classifieds ??
