350i oil filter cross reference info - SUCCESS!

Ok so after having the trauma of trying to find out exactly which oil filter is the right one for my 1984 wedge I have discovered some (possibly) useful info:

- the WIX WL7114 oil filter my local store gave me as the correct one for my model of TVR shows up on the rather useful mannol.de website (www.mannol.de/Catalogue/Filter_SCT/11279.html#) as equivalent to Unipart GFE-169 (it lists all the other manufacturers equivalents too, dead handy!)

- the Fram (Europe) website lists their PH2821A as equivalent to both the Unipart GFE-169 and GFE-181 (the latter being the original TVR specified item) so one would assume the -169 and -181 variants do the same job.

- the WIX website lists the GFE-181 x-ref as their (USA?) part number 51515 and the tech info suggests it has an anti-drain back valve (which I think is quite important following my oil pressure probs on cold starts)

IF anyone has any other info on x-ref'ing of filters they've used I'd be interested - cos there's not much telly on tonight. ta

ah...interesting as that's what was fitted by the garage but seems to be giving me the problem of drain down overnight? does it have a anti-drain valve do you know?

Unipart GFE 295 fitted to mine. Supplied and fitted by Tower View last year.

update - today car gained oil pressure much faster after cold start with the WIX WL7114 fitted. happy now )
