350i Brake Calipers

Hurray I've made a start on getting the beast back together.

A question though, I've decided due to budget to keep the standard brake discs and calipers on my 350i so I have started to strip down the old calipers to have a go at re-furbing them. So far I have managed to strip one caliper down but as the car has been in bits for ?? years the pistons took some shifting. I kind of followed the instructions in Steve Heaths bible by using compressed air to push the pistons out but as they had obviously been there for some time they also needed help with a screwdriver. (Steve recomends the use of a foot pump for this exercise but as I dont have one I decided to use my shiny new compressor, so apologies to the residents of Burton for two load blasts as each one shot out with the force of an exercet missile )

At least I still got my fingers in place !!

So back to the question -

I think I will need to change the pistons as they appear to be quite nasty on the outside - especially now they burrs on caused by my screwriver. I know they will need a new set of seals etc. The bores of each piston looks ok with no corossion.

Has anyone ever had a go at refurbing their calipers? if so where is the best place to get the parts from? and any idea on costs?
