Plan is; to track Sprog's 390 SE at Snetterton Novice Trackday 10th March.
I'm planning on renewing the brake fluid and making sure the pads are up to it. Coolant will be checked and oil and filter changed. is there anything that we really must get fettled. ?

As you say check pads and renew fluid. Oil is new and topped up. Spanner check on suspension and make sure that nearside hub nut is tight.

Make sure that when you press the accelerator to the floor, the throttle butterfly is on the end stop!

Brake fluid dot 5.1. Will the brakes be up for the job? If standard, they wont't last very long. Check your cooling fan, it should work. Have an override switch myself, and on track the fan is on all the time. RV8 engines need oil, top up and go a bit above maximum! As fast cornering can cause surge, and this avoids it. Fast cornering needs also that the fuel tanks are not up to their maximum, as it will spill out! Rear brakes will get very hot, as the standard ventilation is poor on them: never ever put the handbrake on after leaving the track. Rest of the wedge should be up to fast road use, and everything fixed to the car. Leave all the rubish from the boot somewhere, but not in the car. Check if the throttle cable is ok, and take a spare if in doubt. Grease the U-joints, check dif oil level. Oh, and tyres that grip, and still have enough tread when going home. For a track day I take as well: brake fluid, water, oil the bible, half of my workshop tools including a proper jack....
Wedges are ok on a track, lots of fun, you will enjoy that, especially if nothing goes wrong with the car. Hopefully this doesn't put you off ;-)

OK, Done some of that today. One of the things we did was drop the fuel rail pressure to 30psi; it was about 36 and doing 6 or so mpg. Sprog reports that it ran ok today over a 90 mile blat, not pushing on too much except when he tried to give my Caterham the slip. silly boy.
