Oil capacity - 400SE

Just did a quick oil change on the 400SX and there seems to be much more oil in it than the 350i. I had run the level down to minimum (being a tightwad) but even so there was over a gallon in there. I had to put a gallon and a half in to fill it.

Is the sump bigger? I think the sump drain plug might be on the other side too....

The capacity is something like 6.5 litres.. max.

All my wedges have always taken a can of catrol GTX (5 litres) and then a bit more..

6 or more for my three too. Done oil changes on all three.

Arr, there be quite a lot of the slimey stuff in the oil cooler circuit.

My standard 350i, no oil cooler, takes up to 6 litres as well.
Is it safe to run it down to minimum? I don't dare to do that! Always on max, and a bit over (a few mm) when filling up/changing oil. Doesn't use a lot though, not more than 0,5 litre over 1000km (xxW40). And with xxW50, even less.

Me too, loads of oil! Environmentally friendly these wedges
