Old topic but did anyone get a steel/alloy tank made and if so where. I have the inevitable leak and it has been repaired once so probably will go again if I manage to repair it. So pocket money at the ready.

In the process of fabricating one from Stainless. Also my first attempts at TIG welding. Hope there's not too many leaks!!!!!

If I ever figure out how to post pictures here I'll show the results.

like the idea of making a stainless one where did you get the filler neck from.

Just been on a topic search and found this thread. I'm in need of a new tank as the existing one (from a capri?) is showing signs of stress. Have tried TVR Car Parts as well as a few Ford spares suppliers and the part is no longer available. Is there a metal one I can buy off the shelf, or am I going down the (expensive) custom build job?

I have found a place that will make some for me in ali, they will be round, and have to be bolted on, looking into getting catch tank and washer bottle made to macth also.

Will post pic's when done,

I just need to make mesurements for fit, and mesure hose sizes.

Still need one and just getting round to measureing and drawing a sketch but have found a company who will make alloy any shape

Ok My new Ali Header tank and overflow tank and washer bottle are at the postoffice.

Will pick up tomorrow eve, and post some pic's

Then be fitting them on the car over the weekend, Once I make some Ali brackets for them

Ok made a slight mess up on the height, so going to get it re-made shorter but fatter, I made a paper one this time to check it would fit.

I forgot to take in account the size of the cap and fitting opps

here's the Pic's anyway.

I still also need to re-do the brackets on the overflow and washer bottle so they on the orignal slot on brackets.

But should give you an Idea of Quality, and look.

Looks like quite a different shape to mine (old capri one) but finish looks fine and will probably last indefinately. Sound investment!

Well as I've detailed all the engine bay, the old ford one looked a bit crap.

and I thought be a lot eaier changing design then trying to re-make the ford one in ali.

Hopfully I'll be able to sell the one that's too big, to somone with a RV8 in another car, that has more height.

I very pleased with the way they look, I giving myself a slap for being a tt.

How too big is the too big one? I feel a cunning plan coming on if its for sale and will fit?

It's about 1/2 to 1 inch too tall, depending where your going to put it.

I was planing to put it on Ebay after BBWF, as I'll bring it along incase someone wants to buy it. and fit it in a place that fits.
