350SE idle / suspension

I have a 350SE (No 20, 3.9) and I have two issues with it apart from the fact that it's my third wedge in 15 years and that I love it.
Firstly, it was treated to a big cam & stainless manifolds courtesy of Wedge Automotive before I got the car. I goes like a rocket but it's horribly lumpy on tickover (which I can live with if it is the cam - but not the below), worse than that - until warm - it wants to idle at 2600 - 3000 rpm which kills it for me on short trips! Surely there must be a way of getting something civilised with this setup and would love to hear any info (or about any engine setup gurus) or suggestions anyone has. The stepper motor is working (when warm) and airflow meter checks out. Could the ECU need remapping - if so point me in the direction of the man who can help.
Secondly, the suspension is very harsh. On bumpy roads at say 80mph - chucked about is the word and 100 feels like a no no.... I feel it could have a more progressive suspension - perhaps slightly softer springs mated to adjustable dampers?? I have heard the 400se cars were softer - is that right - and if so what set up did they use. I do love scratching - but love to tour too - am I asking too much.
Any help with the latter much appreciated as I have a 355 driving buddy who is rather too smug and needs taking down a peg or two.
