Hi gents,

I am preparing my 87 280i Tasmin (US SPec) for the soon to be returnded Rover 350 motor. Looking at my engine brackets and rubber mounts, I cannot see how they bolt to the frame. The frame bung does not match up! Does anyone have a V8 Wedge with the motor out and can they snap a pic of the frame where the engine mounts bolt in?

Thanks afor your help from across the pond.

ISTR the V8 mounts to the chassis on a different welded bracket to the V6.

Although a mate's '86 US-spec 280 had both sets fitted IIRC... scratchchin

Thanks Rev! Anywhere in particular I can purchase the mount plates? Or will I need to fab my own?

Just fabricate you own - it's 4 ~ 5 mm steel.

Spoke to Richard at RT and left a message for Neil at TVR Carparts and neither have any, soi I guess I need to fab them. Can you give me measurements Rev?

I think I would get the engine in position (on a crane/hoist) and then work out where the mounts can go and fabricate from there. That will give you some flexibility to get a bit better clearance on the headers etc.

Hi Russ,

What did you do in the end.

Any info will be of great help, as I will be putting a RV8 into a 280 Chassis soon.

Going to take the body off 1st. as will make things a lot easier.

I eventually had a fabrication shop change some frame rails. We did not do a body off. Would have been a better way to go bu would have cost double. We wound up doing custom headers and they are a very tight fit but it runs like a scalded dog now!
