Best dampers and springs to improve ride and handling 400SE

Searched the search and found refs to a couple of makes but there was no topic title which asked the question posed here.

I miss Bluey summat awful and am after making BlueII ride better i.e. softer on most of the crap roads we have but firm when pushing on. I noted a slight lift on a gentle motorway bend whilst exploring the car's performance yesterday and thought I wouldnt wish to lose contact with the road and shake hands with an armco.

Any links to companies who have sorted the set up would be much appreciated.

PS Took to rolling road yesterday (Tunit in Chorley) and the guy stuck to my limit of 5500 max (none of this "Let's tt the rev limiter and bounce the needle back" nonsense) and we got best figures of 238bhp and 254lbs ft. Not bad for what seems like a standard engine at 61k.

I have gaz adjustables front and back. Happy with them, especially as it is not to difficult to adjust them while on the car (and adjuster still work after over 2 years on the car). Already had uprated front springs (think that these could be standard on 400). Rear standard springs is fine, as long as they are ok. Handy to have the rear shocks with adjustable platform to be able to adjust so the rear tyres don't rub against the body.

Cheers, but I went there first & cant see any ready made for the Wedge, only all other TVRs.

What do the non-adjustables ride like and would I need new springs, if so which type or would my originals do? I dont fancy getting into lots of adjusting when I want a consistently sure but less bumpy ride on most roas including the interesting b roads I like to use for less traffic and bends

Non-adjustables are not a lot cheaper so not a big saving in total, and they will be for you either: a bit too soft, or just a bit too hard.....
Would still recommend you go with the adjustables.

I had AVO for a few years and was surprised how badly the rear shocks rusted and the adjuster froze.

I now have AVO front and Gaz rears.. the Gaz seem much better built.

Both can be adjusted to suit but you cannot do what you want.

Soft when the road is harsh and hard for when you really push on
- most people just settle on a compromise.

So which type of Gaz shox would I ask for? On the site he doesnt indicate doing Wedges, only the later TVRs

I liked the report on the Wedge pages about the Redline ones that Richard from RT sorted out.

I agree Rev, the AVOs I fitted to my old 350 rusted up in a very short time, cant wait to get my hands on my new GAZ ones. I use the car as a GT mostly with the built in speed limiter sat along side, where do I set my rears / how many clicks - turns ??

Cheers, Rev. On Gaz site, it gives Tasmin inc SE as two types of rears, one of which is coil-over. Which models have the none coil-over, I wonder.

That was me. I Like my Redlines!

We have Redlines on the 400SE but have not found any info on them. I hjust had a look at the wedge pages and did not find anything, could you point me in the right direction please.

i was going to change the originl Koni's on the 400 but decided to change all the bushs to superflex poly bush's and its a totally different car! Feels like a whole new set of suspension..

What is involved in changing just the bushes.....? Bushes AND new shox? Who charges what kind of hours to do either / both? And how hard is it to do either? I have seen general quotes of £230+ for just fitting the shox
