Oilpressure sender for SW (Stewart warner) instruments?

hi. i´m searching an oiplressure sender for Stewart-Warner (SW) instruments. i´ve a early 280 tasmin.

VDO-ones are not compatible!!

any advice?

Here's an idea if you can't get one: stick in a VDO sender and recalibrate the gauge for the new resistances. You can probably check it against a capillary meter.

OR

Get a VDO sender and VDO gauge - the gauges come up on eBay quite regularly, or someone like Pistolar might have a spare.

The ones fitted to the later V6 S series cars fit (and work). I bought mine from a TVR dealer.

i want to keep my SW instrument and dont want to change it to a differnt type.

what you exactly mean with the ones from the later s-types fit? instruments or senders. which brand is it?

how can i recalibrate the gauge?

are the smiths senders eventually compatible?

the sw sender has 240ohm...but as i dont know if it works from 0 to 240 or from 240 to 0 its also not easy to find a compatible one.

and as the sender is damaged i dont want to do any work on the dash or the instrument itself...as removing the panel to get access to the instrument isnt an easy job and will damage more than it is worth.

I used the S type sender with the original SW instrument. It was a straight replacement.

what brand insturments are fitted to the s-types? so which brand is the sender from? as i live in germany its nearly as difficult to get the s-type sender as the sw-sender.

speedometer and rev-counter look like smiths instruments...are they?

Sorry I don't know what brand the S series instruments are. I've sold the wedge so can't check the make of the sender, might be worth checking on the S series forum.

by the way: the original sw sender hasnt any brand or item-no. stamped on it.

only voltage and the measuring -range (0-100psi)

today i picked-up my 2nd wedge from winter-storage. its also a 1982 but already fitted with smiths instruments.

so: "lets change the senders"....wasnt a good idea....the smiths instruments have a mechanical sender (capilaric one)....
