36mpg!!!

Just got 36mpg out of my 1985 350i!

This was a mixture of motorway and A road at speeds between 50 and 70mph. I used the accelerator pedal as a footrest! Not much fun mind but it's nice to know that you can get this sort of return if you need to. Anyone else got this sort of figure?

Did you drive with the roof up as well? This reduces drag.

One useful reason for knowing this is if you only have a gallon left and the next petrol station is 36 miles away, other than that, yes, it's missing the point ;^)

Handy to know - just incase there is a fuel shortage

Not the way to drive a wedge - get out there in the sun, roof down and enjoy the noise

Think I get about 14 mpg out of mine.
It is funny though - when driving the wedge, the less mpg I get, the more I smile and the happier I feel.

Yeah! Roll on another fuel strike! Last time it was open roads - even plod had no fuel.

I remember going from the south of france to le mans and averaging 30 mpg top down and not too excessive a pace - under 90 ish . Brill

The next few days around le mans I managed about 8 - 12 mpg Even more fun

I must be doin it right then coz mine is guzzling it like a Welshman on aRugby day , guess I am havin way tooo much fun !!!!!!!
