Moving the battery to the boot so that...

...I can fit a pair of small-ish fans and duct to pump some of the hot air from under the bonnet. Would wire it to the fan otter switch. Might bin the utterly poo OEM rad fan too, and replace it with a pair of 10/12 inch ones.

Am I crazy, or does this sounds like a good thing?

My plan is to relocate the battery to the top shelf in the boot, and put a pair of small fans, mounted by the inner wing (where the battery was) to draw some of the heat out. The rear facing louvre above the battery is next to useless, cos the battery almost totally blanks it off... Must have had a frenchman in the design office that day...

I am pondering over turbo-tape for the manifolds too, but this may just shift the heat further down the exhaust, which already gets quite hot...

Basically I want to cool it in there!!

Any ideas??

Sounds complex and also you would have some long battery leads. Some clever b.gger mounted two fans under the front of the engine near clutch to pull hot air out under my wedge with switch on dash , never needed it yet though . You are welcome to take a look if it helps .

Make sure that you have an extra way of getting into the boot for when the battery goes flat!

So long as the cable used is meaty enough a run from the boot to the front won't give a problem. You probably won't be able to fit the roof section horizontally in the boot with the battery here though this may not concern you if you only use the vertical boot storage option.

Combine, I can't quite picture where your auxiliary fans are located. Can you give some more details please? Sounds interesting

I've never understood the need for this kind of thing. My wedge seems to cope well in any heat. It does not overheat and the OEM fan seems to do the job admirably.

Maybe I'm just lucky?

Never any probs with mine either. Bought a twin fan set up from a breakers. Hot air vents out through the rear bonnet anyway, so there's no need to fit extra fans, just to do this.
I did see a racing Wedge with a large vent behind the rad, but in front of the engine, but this seems a bit OTT for the road.

My batteries in the boot, it distributes a bit of weight backwards common practice on track cars.

Thats the weird thing .. the engine bay of wedges does not seem to hot to me ..

Now the Griff 500 - lean over the catalst or a T350 near the manifolds..

Is the a reasaon you think it's too hot in there..?

over the winter i put a fatter recored radiator and twin fans onto my wedge didnt take much modifing put ever since the modifaction i have had no problems with over heating, but also the fans never cut in anymore and it never goes above 90 on the temp guage. turned out to be a good cure...
