'Sports Exhaust'

Hi All,

Ive ordered, from TVR Car Parts, a new stainless centre section in 'Sports type' which i have been reliably informed is louder than standard...

My exhaust isnt 'standard' as they guy made it himself, but i dont want it too much louder....i love the burble and hope i dont lose it..

Any ideas what the typical static DB level of a system with this sports centre on a 400 is? (obviouly this is the only box on the system!)

Its ordered now so guess i should have thought about this first! WHOOPS!!!

A normal 400 SE is going to be around 104 db at 4500 rpm.

A sports exhaust could be 106 ~ 108 db .. but all the noise should be behind you - so as long as you are travelling at the speed of sound then you won't notice it

Bought a stainless to replace the OEM one and I swear it is louder (in a good way) and it isn't a sports zorst, although on my commute to Coventry it does get a bit much.

I've just modified the internals of my centre box.. it's probably the format they use in a sports exhaust :

not sure the masking paper would last for long..

And I thought it was sound deadening stuff ! I must get a pic on here of my 'stainless tube' plus the little silencer I don't use very often .
