Well, the Wedge has picked up a little clunck coming from the front o/s when on the bumpy stuff. Closer inspection shows a bit of play in the bottom ball joint (original one, as it was still held in by rivets!).

Anyway new BJ (tina Mk4) ordered, but I also noticed a little nick in the track rod end rubber... so now the big question.

My car is an 88(f) 350i with PAS , I know the pump is SD1, but I've no idea what the rack is off, and hence I don't know what the TR ends are off, I know that TVR probably used several different racks for the PAS models, but does anyone know what off ?

I know the Manual rack cars use tina Mk4 TR ends, would these fit on mine?

Is the best thing to take one off, take into my local motor factors, and see if they can match thread sizes, stud diameters ?

I believe they are Cortina Mk4 regardless of rack. - they have to fit the Ford swivel/hub carrier.
Mine is the Supra power rack - the TR ends came from the factory (in the good old days) but they confirmed source as 'tina MK4

Top tip - when I replace mine I chalk mark the position of the lock nuts before I crack them open. Then I put the new one on I can reposition the locknut and tighten it so it's in exactly the same place.

9 times out of 10 the toe-in is bang on when it's checked.

Cheers Adam, but seeing as my locknut is currently seized (Been and bought a can of plus gas this lunchtime, and a refil for the blowtorch) I didn't need to chalk it, when I turned it the entire track rod turned with it !

So just turned it half a turn then gripped the spanner, and the old TRE came off by hand.
Turned the shaft back the half turn. I'll measure the new TRE with the old one just to be certain that fitting it to the locked up nut doesn't put the tracking out by much. Then once fitted I'll free up the locknut.

I'm not fitting the new ones tonight, as the motor factos won't be getting the new bottom ball joint until tomorrow.

Am I right in thinking the tracking should be set at 3.2mm toe-in +/- 1.5mm ?

Looking at replacing my track rod ends to get rid of a steering wobble. Looks like one of them is worn and to be fair was advised about it at last MOT so I'm not suprised.

Question....anyone got a part number for them please ? Ford, Q&H ?

Thanks thumbup
