When i passed my test back in 92 i remember buying petrol at less than 99p a Gallon

Now it's near enough 99p a litre for super

1975 = 52p for a gallon of two star with a shot of two stroke oil (50.1)
A whole weeks pocket money for a full day of blasting up and down the lake with a dinghy and 3.5hp outboard...

This thread is getting ageist. I used to borrow my mum's car and a quid, put 50p worth of petrol in and take me girlfriend out for a drink and still had change for 10 No.6.

.......... just been to put £20 worth of fuel in the Cerbera so Mrs H can drive 5 miles to work tomorrow morning
(she'll have to pay for her own fuel on the way back)

And thats another issue, it is in liters. Been sneaking away for years haven't they ........ get orf moi imperials.......

Cheapest petrol I ever put in my Standard Eight was 1/6d (7.5p) a gallon I also had hair on my head then

By 'eck, when I were a lad we had to walk fifteeen mile t'school though snow and twenty back like.

We lived in a shoe box an all.

Hate to upset you all, but yesterday I filled up at 37p per litre. LPG of course. Trouble is, a 170,000 mile 1.8 auto Audi is not the sportiest of cars, but it costs 8p per mile to run as opposed to 30p a mile of the fun machine. Unfortunately, It'll cost too much to convert the wedge and, god forbid, might knock off 10 bhp.

Sorry, but it is one of the few car related advantages of living here.

98 Ron at the equivalent of 50p a litre.

The disadvantage is its very hard to use it up quickly here.
