The original ones are about 2 inches diameter, but only the smaller ones (about 1 inch diameter) are available new. There is an adaptor to convert to the later type, very expensive from the usual Rover specialists, but under £20 from Jag suppliers.

Oh another question....I've got a pipe on the back of the plenum letting in un-metered air what's the pros & cons of this then?

Hi Wyn,
That's the engine overrun valve, pipe normally connects from there to a take off on the plenum by the throtlle vien, won't make any difference that it's not connected, except that the air it bleeds into the engine on overrun is not filtered. If the vavle is faulty you would either get high idle problems or increased/excessive engine braking, that's as I understand it anyway, I'm sure there are others here who know more and will correct me if I am wrong. Is the over-run valve working ?? or is the housing there for show ?? With a wild modded slightly tweaked engine like yours all sorts of mods may have been made

Hi Wyn, yes dusted her off, checked everything over, all ok, been for a quick blast here and there, been out this afternoon for a quick blast, saw a break in the clouds, sun came out and I was off like a shot. All seems to be running in fine form. what's the latest on your car, hope it's nothing too serious and you get it sorted soon.

Aye just the throttle pot knackered, don't like partial throttle, goes like a ba***adr if you floor it, as ever. Are you going to BBWF this year? Be nice to see and hear the black beauty in the convoy, even if it's just a 'day out' job

No, sadly not going to BBWF, I would seriously love to go though, but it's just not feasible at the moment, I considered trying to pull it off briefly a few weeks ago, but the brownie pointage alone I would have to accumilate doesn't bear thinking about, besides other things, if it was closer I would defo consider a fleeting visit, but a bit far for that me thinks. Hope you all have a great and trouble free time, must try to make it next year.
