Fuel Pump Leak?

I have a leak between pump and filter, all the connections were very tight and look okay quite hard to get them apart so I think they were sealed, have taken the hose off and had a close inspection and it looks okay, question is can the pump itself leak at the outlet end?
Only if it's fractured. More likely imo is that the pipe has gone brittle and no longer sealing properly, especially as you say it was hard to remove (a clue that it may have gone brittle). You may even find that it starts to crack and turns into a petrol sprinkler system before it finally lets go.
This connection is in the full pressure part of the system, and will test any hose to its limit when old. My test is: take old hose, bend in the other direction of the bend it has, if cracks show = replace.
Did some work on the fuel lines last year, and plan to replace that part this year (again as it is only like 3 years ago that I replaced everything....).
What about braided fuel hoses? Worthwhile to replace good standard stuff with that, will they last longer? As I don't like to redo work that has been done 'lately' (<5 years).

Stay away from self-assembly braided hoses at all costs. Pre-assembled braided hoses are OK if you need protection against mechanical damage, but they're no protection against heat or general age related damage, and they make it impossible to check the state of the hose. They look smart enough, but not really suitable imo for this sort of thing.
