Over fill

Hi All
Should I be concerned about a 6mm over fill above the high mark on the dipstick?

Don't think so. It is even recommended to overfill a bit when doing trackdays. Nothing to worry on RV8s, but over say 10mm I wouldn't do that and drop a bit.

I thought 6mm might be ok, but good to hear it from someone else.
The rather serious sounding 'DO NOT OVERFILL' on the stick - had me going for a moment!

You can also recheck the level after a decent run, and if it not has become MORE! you are fine.

Why more you think? If you do short runs, petrol and water can increase the oil level a bit. Longer runs take care of that, and that is also why it is not advised to take short runs (like to the shop) as it kills the oil and then the engine.

Hey Paul,

Saw you drive out of Goodwood yesterday, i was sitting on the bank by the entrance, saw some serious machinery leave and make some noise although the Police were on firm 'im not letting anyone enjoy themselves'mode yesterday! The slightest wheelspin and they were chasing people down the road! Still, im sure he is very satisfied after a days work! (PS-to anyone else reading this, i dont hate police, just the ones which seem to stop fun and not have a reasonable hat on!)

i was parked in the side carpark but got there about 10ish...not too early for me after saturday night! (You might be surprised to hear!)

Car looked lovely as always-Just go for a long blast, im sure she'll burn some of that oil up!

A slight overfill is ok, as long as you not pushing it to the limit of taking on a track, I made the mistake of not checking before a track day, as was running late, and just picked the car up from a service, but the dealer put too much oil in the car. and I blew my head off. as excess oil will enter the plemen and drian off into the middle 4 cyclinders, this is not a problem in normal driving as it will just burn off.
