found a compony in kent brand new steering joints £36.43 inc delivery fits purfect

was that the car builder solutions ones ?
if so i just fitted 2 of em to mime - nb the ones they sent me were actually 2mm longer each yolk than the old ones so the overall shaft length was 8mm longer - i had to move the column splined section up a bit to compensate.

I think these look like 'grp 4' steering joints .. used to be freely available in the 80's for car like rally escorts.

i dont now if they fit the 400 they have a ford steering and the 350 has british leyland but i still have the one if you want it to check

Good question.
If you have a manual rack (as in a Cortina MK5) then they will probably fit. If you have a P/S rack then it probably depends which one you have....Cortina.....Rover....Supra. If it's the Cortina rack then it's not likely to fit as the Cortina P/S rack has a 17.9mm shaft. I know many of the wedges had a 19.??mm shaft to the rack. I guess the only way to know for sure is to measure it. Cheers Steve

Richard at RT is replacing my steering column bush with standard replacement. Is there anything else that can be done at same time to improve things? Richard knows his stuff so I'm inclined to let him decide.

Having spent £1k locally for the head gasket and coolant system work plus bits I now face £3k more outlay...which is great value considering the work RT are doing .... the day after I discover the P5B Coupe's head gasket has gone and that's after sepnding over £3K on that since purchase. Talk about bad karma .... Didnt realise I'd been such a tt. At least the bailiffs will have two almost sorted cars to take away
