Petrol Incident
Discussion
Out for a nice drive this morning, when I got a whiff of petrol. As any wedge owner knows, this is not uncommon, but this time it persisted, followed by the fuel needle dropping more rapidly than usual.
Yep, you guessed it, the fuel was flooding out from around the tank, all over the nice hot exhaust
One fire engine (luckily just to clear up the petrol) and a recovery truck later, it is now back in my garage.
Somewhat glad I didn't fill it up when I set out this morning, so it only had half a tank.
It's only the third time in the last month that I've been stranded by it

Not sure yet, can't see enough from just looking underneath, and haven't had a chance to jack it up.
All hoses and swirl pot have been replaced recently, so could even be as simple as the hose from one of the tanks coming off.
Peninsula are coming to pick it up on their truck, as it's due the 1000 mile 'post restoration' torque check and service anyway.

Had a look underneath tonight, and the hose from drivers side tank to swirl pot is not properly attached
How was the swirl pot orginally attached to the car? (or how are other peoples attached?), because it looks like the swirl pot has moved, resulting in one of the hoses detaching...

Hi Shnozz,
I can look back and giggle now, I was 'demonstrating' the newly rebuilt and much improved wedge to a friend who last saw it two years ago.
Stopped the car on a small road in Shedfield, and I think it was the most exiting thing that had happened there for a long time
A family arrived on bicycles when the fire brigade were there saying 'Someone phoned us to say there was a fire engine here and thought we would have a look'
, and it also succesfully stoppped the old folks playing bowls on the green next to the road
It's back to Peninsula now to have this sorted, and the other post restoration niggles sorted.
Rich.
Glad everything is getting better Rich ... Could have been interesting... Hot exhaust and volitile fuel... Mmmm all the loverly modifications would have needed a new body to match!.
That means Peninsula have both our cars .... Im having a new roll bar fitted plus some additional tweeks.
