water injection, that is. Met up with Wyn and Jeff at Castle Combe Saturday and got talking to a guy who lives down the road from Wyn and frightens him everyday he drives past in his Marcos. Now, this is fitted with a rather crude version of water injection. That is a hyperdermic needle in each ram of his Weber 40's coupled to an ordinary washer bottle pump. He swares by it, really works!
Back in the 80's I put a proper set-up on my RS2000 but found there was no difference at all.
Whats the info and verdict guys ?

I think it's of more use in a 'charged' engine.

It's used to cool the inlet charge and help stop detonation.

I guess the only time it would be useful in a normally aspirated engine would be if your were running a very high c/r - say 11:0

From the man himself

"A water injector on a turbo car is a poor excuse band-aid for not doing the job correctly the first time"

I'll be installing some. Washer bottle with integral pump courtesy of Ebay, £3.

It'll be upstream of the supercharger so any un-atomised droplets will be mashed by the Sprintex.

It only needs to be on above 80% throttle, so I'll be using a comparator off the throttle pot feeding a power transistor to drive the washer pump.
