Wedge down! Help needed!

My son matt-man drove to Lemans today in his 400SE - fault free. Got to the camp site in Lemans and the throttle cable snapped ! So he is now stuck 400 miles from home!
I will be going down there early doors Thursday so want to take him a cable or a cable insert to try to temp fix or what ever. Anyone know what part numbers, or where to get one in 24 hours! Or the length of the inner cable so I can try to bodge it when I get down there?? Any ideas welcome!!! Its an F reg 400SE flapper.

I replaced my throttle cable with a motorbike clutch cable. If you get an versatile end set you can fit most of them to a TVR. There must be a motorbike shop in the vicinity!
Depends where it has broken but if you shorten the outer by 1 inch you may be able to get the old one repaired to fit - it may be a bit stiffer but should get you home.

I use a pushbike cable. Replaced a snapped cable once and never looked back. Always carry a spare as well.
Not to difficult: just to figure out a decent fix to the accelerator pedal and I use a standard connection block to fit it to the original end at the plenum end to ensure smooth throttle operation. Only thing to work out is the length: if too long the pedal is up too high, and otherwise too low....

Don't panic Mr Mainwaring!!!
As I recall, France is chock-a-block with what they call "Velos", and you see the onion sellers pedalling around on them with stripy jumpers on.
Just get to the nearest bike shop and get a bike brake cable plus a cable clamp (just a bolt with a hole drilled in it will do - you get them at the end of centrepull brake cables.)
Then pull out the inner from the old cable. Try not to disturb the outer (though you might need to - carefully - pull it off the bulkhead).
Thread the new inner through the throttle pedal and up the outer. When it gets to the engine you'll need the cable clamp to terminate it at the cam-shaped thing.
Adjust the cable length to get the correct pedal height.
Should be done in 20 minutes. And then enjoy the racing and drinking!

1.3m is what I just measured using a bit of string. Make sure you have a decent pair of cutters to cleanly cut the cable!Your all bloo*dy good blokes! Much more help than those Ultima snobs!

Due to the cramped conditions I now have a crick in my neck but the beer in Arnage will be the perfect remedy for that! Hope to see some of you down there.Brum brum
Although a complete bodge to get Matt home, and depending on where the cable has broken, you may be able to get a "chocolate block" type electrical connector (the white transparrent blocks you may have used to wire a car stereo with a hole either end where your wires go into and a screw which screws down to hold them in place).
As I said, a bodge but a very simple one that might get him home...

Just in case, I've stuck a bike brake cable and a set of cutters in the tool kit. I should be on site early Thursday afternoon, call or text me if you need it.

Not so fast, monsieur!
Best check to see if the outer cable has a nylon liner before you liberally smear oil about the place... or the liner will swell and jam the cable.
Happened to my mate on a Suzuki bike; he didn't realise about the liner, lubed the cable, got 200 miles and couldn't roll the throttle off!
