Air Cleaner

Hi Guys

My air cleaner looks like it do with a clean. Never been done since I have had the car. It looks like a sponge filter enclosed in a metal casing. What is the best way to clean the sponge as it looks like it does not come out of the casing.

I wait till the wife goes out then bung it in the washing machine on a light wash, I also squirt some neat washing-up liquid on. You can usually wash them 3 times without ill effect. If it's _really_ gunky I give it a petrol wash first, by hand.

Then afterwards you can dry it on the car - the engine will dry it pretty quickly - and then spray it with WD40 to get it sticky for the dust.

Lastly bung your overalls etc in the washing machine to cover up for any dirt that might be lurking.
