Clutch help Needed!

Bin out the other day and the clutch developed very random problem sometimes it will go to the floor and not disengage somtimes halfway and any variable inbetween. Time for a new master i thought having already done a seal kit on the slave. Ordered the one of The Wedge pages and it turned out to be wrong to long and to small bore (non-returnable special order part of course so it will be coming with me to wedge fest if anyone wants it) So the question is can I get a seal kit or new master that fits and does anybody know where from? or part numbers. Its girling and has casting no's but no tag?
Any ideas welcome

If you have bought the new master cylinder and it doesn't kit, then its been supplied and you should be able to return it. After all, its not you who made the error stating it will fit.
Secondly, everything you buy you can return despite being a special order - it is your statuary right as a consumer under British law. Many companies have their preferred way of dealing with returns, but this is not the way it has to be.

Both overhaul sets are available. I used the part numbers that can be found on the rimmer website (rover sd1 clutch stuff if I remember well). In the wedge bible some more information can be found. And it is important on the master that the operating rod is centered, as this could wear out the new seals very quickly.
I overhauled both master and slave last year, and they are still fine.

Hi, I'm new to Pistonheads membership and came across this thread while looking for information about Clutch Master cylinder repair kits as this weekend I too have been dealing with failing clutch hydraulic pressure. Symptoms quite exciting really.. clutch down, in reverse and the car starts backing itself out of the drive!!!
Anyway, the point I wanted to raise is that I noticed one reply in this thread said both overhaul kits were available from Rimmer Bros, but beware of the assumption that because the Rover SD1 'slave' cylinder repair kit fits that so will the 'Master' cylinder one - it doesn't! As I found out yesterday. I had naively made this assumption and ordered both kits from Rimmer Bros (not their fault I hasten to add). However, the bore of the cylinder is 0.7" and the piston seal of the SD1 kit (same kit for TR7 as the package is labelled) is for a slightly smaller bore. So make sure you do get the SP2102 kit.
Good forum, I have often found useful information here but have only now got round to joining, as I felt compelled to warn people who may suffer a similar bout of TVR naivety as I recently have (I really should have known better)!
Cheers

And again an example of that every wedge is different/unique. I overhauled master and slave with SD1 kits.... Also before ordering it, veryfied it was SD1 by comparing it to the stuff on the SD1 I have standing around....
It could be that a previous owner replaced the complete master cylinder with another type, or that TVR grabbed something from the parts bin available at that time.

Hmm, so makes my wedge more unique then it already was.... Thanks for the information Adam, totally forgot that that could be a possibility too. But as I bought from first owner, and when taking the clutch master cylinder off (it was very difficult), I couldn't find evidence of a previous repair/replacement (but still possible of course). Still prefer my setup, clutch is fine but perhaps slower to pickup (you can dump and the clutch and takes care of itself!), and as being able to source parts that I normally also source for the SD1.
By the way: the clutch in the wedge still takes a lot more effort compared to the rover.
