Headlamp lifter keeps popping the fuse. Help!

Got the wedg eback together today, and noticed that:

When I put the lights up, they rise fine, but when i pop 'em back down again, the nearside one blows its lifter motor fuse. Got thru 3 fuses ascertaining that it happens every time.

Any ideas?

I have to tell you that I did have a major fault a couple of months back, where the pod jammed whilst driving, and i couldnt see it. It DIDNT blow the fuse then, and the motor got awfully, awfully hot. Like it caught fire... The only thing that saved a major incident was that the fire used up all of the oxygen in the motor and asphyxiated itself... Lucky escape...

Turns out it jammed cos the light unit came loose and jammed between the pod and the nosecone. Thats now fixed!!

However, I wonder if the varnish on the motor windings has broken down and the wingings are now shorting out, causing it to draw too much current??

I wondered if the top bumpstop was giving the motor too much to chug against, but having loosened it off a bit, it still does it.

Anyone got a second hand lift motor for sale?!?!

Fault seems to have evaporated...

I threatened it with a thorough fault-finding session, armed with about a million spare fuses and a plan, and it works fine now.

Mind you, I do have another issue, but that'll be in another thread.
