no fuel in wedge, so put a can full, and it looked like a watering can underneath.

Its not even been used, but has been sittting on the car for 5 years.

Spend all afternood trying to weld it up, got a few holes sorted but got a few giving me problems, its a pain as have to grind all weld off before I can start again.

I had to make a presure tester also.

Going to try and get some coper pipe and make a temp one out of that, and order a ali one, was it RT racing who sold them.

My bro is comming over tom, so I'll let him have a try 1st.

Got the pods working though, and fitted the new battery.

yeh, the swirlpots are known for rusting. If Thorpy cant get you one, there are plenty of Ali fabricators about who can knock one up.

TOP TIP: be careful as you install the new one: the fuel tank link-pipes that Tee into the top of the pot can rub on the propshaft if you are unlucky: mine did it, and luckily I spotted it before the pipe wore through and poured 8 Gals of fuel onto the rear of the HOT silencer.

Serious poo. Make sure the pipes are restrained so they cant do this. I did mine with several tywraps, and all is OK. GRP glass strands might not burn well, but the Polyester resin goes up a treat!!!

Ed.

Thanks for that tip,
But mine are currently cable tied up, I wondered why.

I was told there are baffles in side. so not sure if one can just get knocked up, also would still take about a week to get someone to make one.

Is it a good idea to be welding something that's had petrol in it? Personally I'd go for a new stainless steel one.....you won't be replacing that one again.

Ok, spoke to 2 local fabricators, one is too busy,

The other said he could braze a plate on the bottom, should be ready by tomorrow.

hopefully it will be air tight.

If not may just fill with sealant, or try and lead line it.

I'll keep you posted.

Leigh, thanks. Yep, I'll be at BBWF so see you there.
Collectively I guess it did cost a fair bit but individually it didn't cost any more than ones off the shelf and to have them made in stainless. IIRC the water tank and power steering tank (one with the yellow cap) were each about £130.

The tank at the bottom is for the air breather system. It's to replace the aluminium tank on the bulkhead, just haven't got round to doing it yet as I need to source all the fittings.

I did get a few parts made in aluminium but they didn't look too good after a couple of years so I decided to go for stainless. It's extra weight, but on a road car I'm not too worried. The tanks in the pictures were made over a year ago and I took the pictures last night. They have never been polished. I'm not really into polishing the car every weekend, got enough to do at the moment.

Thats not a bad price. esp as stainless is dearer than ali, plus harder to machine.

Anyway got my Swirl pot back, but I found a hole in the side, they never presure tested it Grrrr.
They are going to re-do it, and water test it. will pick up again about 5.

Cost £20 so far, but will give him another £5.
