Not familiar with callander. Whereabouts in the country are you? If theres not a garage about, theres bound to be someone here who can help you!

What seems to be the problem?? Theres loads of experts here...

When you say it chugs like mad, do you mean it shunts, i.e. kicks you in the back and then tries to put you through the windscreen, or is it just sloooow?

If you're a little handy with a multimeter, go to www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk and go through the maintenance section. Theres a Rover V8 electrical and troubleshooting guide, which is really good. Go through the tests, and hopefully the car will fail on one of them. Let us know what happens.

Also, can you give us some more details on the chugging?

Ed.

Have you adjusted tickover on the throttle linkage instead of the adjust screw on plenum? Thus putting the throttle pot out of adjustment.

Mine does it sometimes when pulling away with too little throttle...

ERmm, not sure how to cure it, but as above, check the voltage coming of the throtle pot at idle.

Mine was also doing that. The timing was too far advanced.
Timing reset as it should be, now runs like a dream.

You could have a word with Colin Low at Tarduff Motors, West Port area of Linlithgow. He might have some idea what the problem is. Has worked on a number of V8 TVRs and also works, part time, with Stewart Roden and the Scuderia Eccose Ferrari GT team.

I'm in Motherwell so not far from you.
Not sure where the dealer is in Callander either, but my car seems to be having the same problems as you.
I've changed plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm.
Adjusted the timing, fueling and throttle position sensor.
Next I'll try replacing the fuel filter as it looks as old as the car.
Wedge bible says the filter may be clogging and not giving enough petrol to the engine.
I'll keep you posted!

Given that you say the car was sitting over the winter then the fuel filter, or the fuel pump sounds likely. It may be the fuel pump as the fuel filter is after the pump.

Hi leeros, don't often get a chance to visit PH but I can recommend Callander, I used them a fair amount and they did a fantastic job on my Cerbera (That's was my BC TVR - before child !!!).

As for your problem well there's been a number of valid suggestions and one other possibility could be an air leak on the fuel system, extra air causes the ECU to dump more fuel in. There is a great pdf file on webpages that will help. I had this issue and it created similar symptoms to yours, turned out to be a slight leak on the servo.

As for garages yep same issue in Aberdeen, I wanted my settings/mixture set but no RV8 garage wanted to touch the car, too much hassle, so I took it to the garage down my road. They dusted off the old Crypton tuner, had not been used for years but perfect for setting the old V8s. The difference was amazing, the engine pulls neck snappingly well, excellent engine note and runs really sweat, even returning reasonable mpg regardless of a slight big right foot. Not sure of any garages with similar equipment down by you but maybe worth phoning around.

Good luck
Hamish

Drain out all fuel and replace - if it has been sat for a few months it will be shot - this happened to me with a bike once. As has been said - change the fuel filters as well.
