strange connector on disy vacuum
Discussion
I have a black and red box on my in the middle of my vacuum hose from pelum to disy. it says carbs on one side and disy on the other.
Strange thing was it was on wrong way round, not sure if I did this by mistake, or if should be the otherway for injection.
Will post a pic tomorrow if needed.

Mine is fitted dist to dizzy, carb to plenum on EFI engine. I'm guessing it's just a little damping valve to even out fluctuations in the vacuum. Someone on here will have the proper name for it, and know how it works.....................come on, own up, who reads engine manuals at bed time?

As standard there is a slow return valve in the vacuum line. If it's working correctly you will be able to suck towards the dizzy but not away from it. The purpose is to stop the vacuum advance operating transiently when you open the throttle from idle. It is vulnerable to getting blocked and can even get fitted back to front. If in doubt get rid of it and replace it with a plain pipe. The problems it can cause are worse than the problem it is intended to address.
Ok
I'll re-move it from system, It could have been fitted backwards to stop it working but not wanting to block the holes. or is that a bad thing.
I think your right about it being a slow-mo / delay device. surprized mark adams did not tell me to take it off when he turned the car last. I did ask him about it.
