Chedders thread was getting off topic so a pic as requested. The valve is a screw up air release for a boiler system I believe? Just made sure that there was enough for the clips ti tighten on to.

Thanks Dude,

I think my main problem is with the rad tho.

I got a maplins heat gun yesterday so will do some test's with it tonight.
Seemed to work ok on my audi.

I asume the outside engine temp should be hotter than the gauge reading as the water temp will be a bit cooler due to it being under presure.

No - I think the temps should be the same.

The pressure changing the boiling point .. but the temp is still the same .. inside the system or outside it.

My heads/block etc was showing slightly hotter than the water pipes, not by much. Defo decrease on the plenum with the insulator.

Also the destructions for the temp thingy say to put a bit of masking tape on shiny surfaces and that the aiming needs to be taken into consideration.

Yes I did notice it did not like shinny surfaces, my Iron has a very mirror finish, and it did not like reading that at all, but if I put a pice of paper on it, it would then read.

My audi is not as shinny as my TVR tho. so I don't think that was the problem there.
