Jeff,
My boot always smelt of fumes which got in round the lights and a bit round the side edges of the seal but since the boot was sealed from the car no fumes got into the car. I did have a problem at one point due to a hole in the gear lever gaitor and leaking manifolds.
Hope you can get it sorted.

Hmmm. Fed up with stuff in the boot smelling especially food now. Sealed the lights but still wondering why the bottoms have never been sealed, let water out? But how does it get in etc
PS J clothes are easier to remove excess sealant than kitchen roll I discovered, kitchen roll crap.
Talced the boot seal and its pretty good (should have used chalk but didn't have any), just a few points not showing up on the boot lid. No wiffs in the cab so as you say, just one of them things

Thats why (no big holes to check back on) I talcon powderd the seal and only a few small sections where it is not making well. If its a case of moving the pipe further out (not poss unless more is welded on and its already 3-4 inches) I will live with it. See how the lights getting re-sealed works.
