Having had a good nose under the car the weekend it looked possible to me to support the engine remove an engine mount and drop the manifold, starter and engine mount on the drivers side.Has this been attempted? im sure evreything has been tried to avoid lifting the engine but I have not come across that one yet.

You only need to tilt the engine over a tad , the starter can stay in. i used to jack the engine and undo the mount (drivers side) the manifold should then drop down , New manifolds should fit much easier.

Thanks Tim,I thought it looked possible, now I know it is I will go this route.Beats the £300 I was quoted for fitting a pair of new manifolds!

You might well find you have to "adjust" the drivers side manifold in the area of the starter...

Usually involving some heat and a ball-pein hammer... Even if the manifolds came from TVR!

When I bought my 350 and put it on the ramp to have a nose underneath. I noticed there was less than 15 thou between the recently fitted stainless manifold and the starter main battery terminal. The car had recently also had a new battery and alternator fitted to try and cure flat battery syndrome. Not sure if rain water would ever find its way down that far when the car is stood. But since I have opend the gap a little I have never had any battery probs.

The insulation on my starter wires was in a bad condition from the heat, once they were replaced i fitted some of that heat sleeving over them to help protect them in the future. Its not quite as close as yours though!
