I have fitted Focus smoked side lenes and they seem to look better on the car than I thought.

Was a real pain to fit them, but am impress with the results.

See Pic.

Need to clean the car the dead fly and bugs have been realy highlighted by the flash.

Well just thought they would look good, was plaining at 1st to have them upside down or at a angle, but they looked best as shown.

I think the old big square orange ones look very dated. most people have fitted the oval ones. but its not a round car. so thought more angler ones would suit it better.

you did not say if you liked them or not.

They are a pain to change as you need to take the pods out.
Plus the focus ones need a lots of mods to make them fit.
but think it was worth it, plus make it look a bit differant from the others.

I won't get ofended if one one thinks they look crap.

I expected them to look poo. But they actually look quite in keeping. The only issue is that the fronts are still orange!

Youre right about the angular look.

Yes I was not sure about them, when I 1st had the idea. but wanted somthing different. and the orange ones was just too dated.

But was only suprized how well they looked, I think I'm not going to be the only one with them by next BBWF.

let me know if you need some help.

Your need some 1 inch id hose, a 1 inch hole cutter. and some c-clips.

Hi Leigh, I've been thinking of doing the exact same thing, like you I figured the angular design would suit the car better, and after seeing yours there I think it looks great, I'm currently waiting fo my brother-in-law to get me a set on approval (he works in the trade) for me to see exactly what's involved, so any info you can provide would be much appreciated. Cheers, Rich.

Ok I'll post some details pic's tomorrow.

Your have to wreck the lens to make them fit so you won't be able to return them after fitting if you don't like em.

Also make sure you get then bulb's and holders and conector as they are a different design.

I had to adjust mine to make them fit. and solder on conectors, so will be a lot easier to get the whole kit.

you should be able to do all the mods with a hack saw, but a 1" hole cutter will makes things easier.

p.s.

Make sure you get smoked len'es with amber bulbs. not sure it will look right with the orange lenes, depends on car colour tho.

Your need some spade conectors and sockets also.

I contemplated doing the same but didn't think they'd look right.
I was wrong - they look ace!

I also contemplated the original style but in a different colour as shown here:

Might have to change mine now

I did by the Ford-ESCORT-FIESTA-ORION-Indicator-Side-Lens-SMOKED ones, but did not look as good.
But it came in handy for the sockets and bulbs.

Not a problem as long as when you buy the focus one you make sure they come with bulbs.

Thanks for your comments.

Was a big gamble on time to try them out.

Update on how to do the mod.

Your have to remove the pods. I may be posible with out, but will be a major pain.

as you can see from

The back of the lens is not round, and the TVR has round holes.
So you will need to do the folling modes to arive and these parts

To make the back of the lens round your need.

a hole cutter and hack saw.
Use the hole cutter round the middle hole this will make the back of the lens round, then cut of the excess on the sides. you then need to trim with a knife and tape up. I used black tape but may be better if you can get reflective siver tape.

Then you need to make the protective rubber,
get a pice of ply or hard board and cut a 1" hole.
then cut a cross hole in a she rubber, place this over the back of the lens, then put this into the hole of the ply you just cut a hole in.
you can then aply presure and cut round the rubber to make the protective rubber.

you then need a spacer and C clip.
use a old pice of 1" hose cut to about 10mm you may have to trim this to fit.

Your then need to either buy for find some C clips to fit in the gap of the lens.
I made mine from a sheet of ali.

Then you should end up with the folling.

Have a couple of those lying around somewhere.

Think that your triangular idea looks good, but prefer to keep sort of with the old shape. Also thinking of just putting some clear perspex to replace the front indicator stuff (which is partly cracked, etc.) and use an coloured indicator and more powerfull bulb for the front light (so people can see you coming during the day, if they are deaf).
