Hey - someone’s squirted it with black stuff!

Looks like a stainless steel box?
Puzzled by the Y piece 2 pipe outlet though, are all SEAC’s like that?

Hello Paul , nice to meet up with you again at the fest , not much time there though , the exhaust I think is about normal for standard seac , those pipes out from silencer are stupidly low , signs of usual catching on road , system needs sealing up in places as has been caught on ' obstructions ' .The original plastic red stuff is still on but peeling so needs attention .

At least the oil leak seems to have kept the chassis in good condition..

The exhaust look to have lots of 'sealant' around it..

Thought it was something like that!
Should wipe off with cloth and lots of white spirit.

What do you reckon to using the Colonel's recommended technique for bringing the chassis tubes back to how they should be? -

N.B. any tubes that clean up with white spirit don't get repainted, just clear Waxoil applied.

• Remove loose rust and flaking paint with wire brush.

• Then use Hammerite rust remover gel to bring back to bare metal (this doesn’t damage good paint).

• Rinse off and dry thoroughly.

• Apply 2 coats of smooth red Hammerite paint (as it says on the can, primer, undercoat and topcoat in one). It’s not quite the same shade, but near enough.

• Finally, coat all the tubes with aerosol spray applied clear Waxoil (I think I used 2 cans)

Painted mine 3 years ago – still good!
