the strutts - there was something on here a while back or on TVRCC forum
a company that did them where all you did was give them the length - (open and shut) and the pressure

Cant remember the name - sorry

The easy way to source the strut is to poke around the breaker yard with a tape measure. The pressure rating is written on the side, I found Citroen AX struts to make an acceptable replacement for my boot and VW golf for the bonnet.
The oil filter should be from a Ford 2.9 Granada MkIII.

Oil filter unipart # is gff12, that should enable you to get a Fram equivalent.
Shocks, try Classic Motor Works in PA, tel no 814 288 6911 I think he carries Armstrong and Spax. Just tell him 280, and that you need shocks.
Probably cheaper than UK too. well maybe.

Whoops.
I read your post too quickly, it was the struts for the boot/trunk.
I gave up with them, all I could find were the blue label ones which will put the boot lid into orbit.
I settled for a "piston helper" to keep it open when needed.

Thanks jeff, will keep on looking, apparently a fram ph16, is the one for a wedge 280.

Bonnet struts:

Our local scrappy had a huge box of these, I went through them all, and found Capri Tailgate, and MG Maestro ones look correct. I have fitted MG Maestro ones which are a bit over the top pressure wise.

There is no chance of the wind blowing the bonnet shut with these Maestro struts, infact if you pull the bonnet half way down, and let go, you can catapault stuff quite a long way!

Aye, and sooner or later the studs will be ripped out of either the bonnet or the inner wing...

Replaced my bonnet struts earlier in the year. Based on a previous PH thread on the subject, I successfully used the same strut as used on the pre-1996 Range Rover
upper tailgate (the glass window portion). These are
supposed to have the same strength rating as needed for this application. Should be available at any
good imported auto parts store in your area.

Now I heard this a long time ago, and I dropped into a place off the A38 south of Derby (that's a bit of a long way for you US chaps ;-) that specialises in Range Rovers. I looked at several Rangeys that spanned about 15 years of production, and all their tailgate glass gas rams were 200+ Newtons - the TVR ones should be about 100N. In all other respects they were identical to the TVR units. I got a couple to try on the 390, but they frightened the sh!t out of me with the amount of force needed to compress them. NOT recommended.

I tested my old gas springs, they read 12Kg at the half way position pressing them on some very inaccarute bathroom scales. 10Kg is about 100N ( I remember an apple produes about 1 Newton force.) One of the used maestro ones measured 45Kg ish. I would suggest that something in between would be ideal, like 20-30Kg , so 250N sounds good. Maybe I just have a really heavy bonnet, the fixings look really meaty anyway. MMmm anyone got a light bonnet fr sale ?

You can get adjustable gas struts from Gas Strut Engineering LTD. They send you a unit to your size/stroke spec and then all you do is use a little allen key to let out the gas till its the right pressure.

I suppose an enterprising Range Rover garage could start a line in worn out struts to wedge owners....

I found great struts that fit well from a company in Ohio.
The company is J.W.F Technologies. Item number 752886. I used the 2 I bought for the bonnet and put the 2 best ones in the rear because of the rear defogger hook ups which they don't make.
They fit my 84 280i well. JWF doesn't have a phone # on its bill of sale but the address is
