Looks like my clutch is enjoying the autumn of its years. It doesnt slip when accelerating in gear, but does take half a second or so to stop slipping when up-changing "briskly". I dont believe this is wheelspin, as it does it going into 4th aswell as 2nd and 3rd.

Also noticed a creaking noise and can feel a little roughness at the bottom of the pedal travel.

Perhaps a problem with the release lever.

I think an uprated clutch is in order (but not one of those silly sintered jobs: faaaar too snatchy). Probably a 5.0 Griff clutch if I can find one to mate to an LT77 input shaft.

I know that my engine crane doesnt have the reach to get to the engine over the nosecone. Rats. Sooo, I am going to make a block and tackle rig in the garage.

Question is, are there any major hitches I should know about when removing the engine. I shall be leaving the 'box in situ, and will probably remove it separately for cleaning etc...

Big job...

Ed.

I did my clutch in Feb..

You can just move the engine forward a few inches.. no need to take it all out.

Griff 500 clutch is about the best choice and you can get one for the LT77 box.

I have a Mcleod (american jobbie) 10.5 inch job in mine now.. and it's really nice . Not heavy at all.

Ah, this is normal then...

My clutch never slips off the mark (some of you have seen my brisk off the line moves!) or when booting it in any gear but it doesnt like fast gear changes...

Ive got used to letting it engage properly before stompint on the loud pedal again but kinda assumed it was the pants performance of the standard SD1 (i assume) clutch...
