Dimmer Switch Wiring

Can anyone tell me what colour are the wires going into the instrument light dimmer switch? And is it possible to get the lights working without it??

The Bible says you run the Earth to the negative terminal on the battery but I cannot find that either!!

you can take the wires off and short join them.
There are 3 wires on mine 1 return and 1 bright and one dim.

The bible should have what colour the wires shold be.
