No From what ive seen of the CAR its very nice

It is advertised a 420 SEAC,then he says it isn't

The car is nice,it's not a SEAC,it's just the owner is a loony tune .

Sent out by the factory in August 1986 to The TVR Centre in Barnet as a "TVR 420 SEAC, metallic black with modified windscreen aperture" (this detail can be confirmed from records kept by the TVR Car Club), the car was sold to its first owner, a City financial institution, in September 1986.
...I do not therefore offer the car as a 'TVR 420 SEAC'.
...The car has carried '420 SE' badges (I have some photos)for some part of its life.
You will have to reconcile this with the factory description of the car.
So is it a SEAC? JJ above staes that its, it isn't, it isn't, it is. IIRC the problem that I see with that description is that the TVRCC records were compiled by Richard Sails and his wife on a visit to the factory when they obtained a lot of archive information and when asked about this specific point "TVR 420 SEAC, metallic black with modified windscreen aperture" Richard said that he was not sure that he had mixed it up with another car; by the end of the advert this bit of folk lore appears to have become "the factory description of the car."...I do not therefore offer the car as a 'TVR 420 SEAC'.

It will make little difference if it is eventually confirmed (somehow?) that it was described as a seac by the factory. It looks like a 390se, if you wanted to buy a SEAC you would also want it to look like one, and be prepared to pay the price difference for it. It may be a very nice car? I hope the owner gets good money for it. In the end its value will be determined by condition and unfortunately for the seller probably based on 390se prices.

Does anyone know the fate of the BLE automotive 390SE? No relationship??
John, I suggested this in an earlier thread about the provenance of this car (a couple of years ago when JJ was asking for information), but it got ignored, probably because if you believe you have a particular type of car, no other suggestions will do. I don't know what happened to the BLE 390 but it was certainly around at the time of the SEAC racer (both cars are featured at Oulton park when Fast Lane did a feature on the 420 racer). There are several colour photos of the two cars in the TVRCC archives. the DLE 390 in these photos was green. Wasn't there another 'factory' 390SE racer as well???The reality is that the true origins of this car will never be known, but the factory did put some 420 engines into 390's (witness some of the road test car performances), and didn't Martin Shaw have one of these cars?
Personally I think it's a 390/420SE with 4.2 engine and a tea tray on the back, but the owner thinks otherwise (or does he?).

Thanks for posting that, my hunch that it is a 390/420 SE with a teatray appears to be right.
On the 390SE racers, I thought that there were two (it could be the same car resprayed though), the BRG BLE one and a pale (powder) blue TVR one, there is a press photo of the latter with PW and his lastest acquistion, an artic for delivering TVRs to dealers. It would be great if Richard Sails could scan the BLE car from the photos in the archives, excerts from the Fast Lane shoot and post them for all to see.
